TARDA CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE
As part of TARDA’s 50 Years Celebration, we recently hosted the #TARDAAt50 Conservation Cup, an event that brought together communities, stakeholders and environmental enthusiasts to champion the cause of conservation. The day began with a tree-planting ceremony, where participants came together to contribute to the reforestation efforts of Iveti Forest at Kusyomuomo Site in Machakos County. Led by TARDA Managing Director Liban Roba, participants planted over 3,500 Agro-Forest seedlings, reinforcing our commitment to environmental sustainability.
After the tree-planting activities, Iveti Community Forest Association FC and the TARDA Team took to the field for an exciting conservation tournament where they showcased their sporting spirit and dedication to environmental stewardship. The tournament provided a platform for promoting awareness about environmental conservation through sports. Throughout the event, participants engaged in discussions and conversations focused on the importance of conservation and community involvement. Representatives from TARDA and partner organizations shared insights and strategies for promoting sustainable practices. The interactive sessions fostered dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, highlighting the collective responsibility in safeguarding our environment.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Conservation Cup to the tournament winners, the Iveti Community Forest Association FC who beat TARDA Team by 2 goals to 1. TARDA CEO Liban Roba awarded the trophy, recognizing the team’s efforts in promoting environmental awareness through sports. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the participants and underscored the significance of their contributions to environmental conservation. With the successful planting of thousands of seedlings and the spirited participation of community members, the Conservation Cup served as a reminder of the collective impact we can achieve through collaboration and action. The event laid the foundation for ongoing initiatives aimed at nurturing and preserving our natural environment for generations to come. The event underscored the vital role of community-led initiatives in preserving our natural resources for future generations.
On 13th March 2024, TARDA donated football kits to Iveti Community Forest Association FC which they used during the tournament. This is an integral part of our Corporate Social Investment initiatives showcasing our commitment to supporting and empowering communities. At TARDA, we’re keen on paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future!
