TARDA & LUKENYA UNITE FOR CLIMATE ACTION.
Tana & Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA) and Lukenya University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at reigniting their shared vision for climate action, community empowerment and river basin sustainability in an event graced by TARDA’s Managing Director, Mr. Liban Roba and Lukenya University’s Vice Chancellor, Council and Board of Trustees members
In his remarks, Mr. Roba noted that learning institutions are not simply centers of knowledge but are engines of innovation and resilience. He also noted the progress made by Lukenya University and TARDA in previous MOU’s where they have converted research and ideas into lasting impact for communities and ecosystems through the restoration of riparian zones of River Athi by planting and nurturing over 50,000 seedlings, to championing the bold 10 Million Trees Marathon last year as well as the reforestation efforts in Kibwezi East.
The signing of this MOU is a renewed commitment to action: to harness science, community spirit and innovation in safeguarding rivers, restoring ecosystems, and securing Kenya’s climate future. The trees planted during the ceremony were not just symbolic; they were living promises of resilience for generations to come.
