DRIVING COMMUNITY IMPACT IN SOUTH IMENTI.
The Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority‘s Regional Coordinator for Tana Basin, Mr.Joses Mugambi recently joined a consultative meeting at the Igoji Sub-county DCC offices alongside the Area MP, Hon. Dr. Shadrack Mwiti, national government agencies, county government representatives and community CBO leaders.
The meeting highlighted the need for collaboration in equipping the new sub-county offices with basic logistics, reflecting the importance of shared responsibility in strengthening local governance. TARDA’s role was also recognized, with appreciation expressed for our efforts in championing environmental conservation through tree planting in Mt. Kenya forest, schools and along roads, in line with the Presidential directive on expanding national forest cover.
Hon. Dr. Mwiti commended TARDA for the projects planned in Meru and pledged to champion initiatives such as the Iraru-Mweru Water Project in Parliament. In addition, our discussions with Uwezo Fund Director General, Mr. Peter, opened the door for a strategic partnership aimed at empowering youth and women through value addition initiatives such as apiculture and green financing models designed to support climate-smart livelihoods.
This collaboration underscores TARDA’s commitment to working with communities, leaders and partners to deliver sustainable development, conserve our environment, and create inclusive opportunities for youth and women within our area of jurisdiction.
