THE KIANGOCHI-MUCHUNGUCHA IRRIGATION PROJECT,A BEACON OF HOPE FOR MBIRI WARD COMMUNITY
The Kiangochi-Muchungucha Irrigation Project being implemented by TARDA in Mbiri Ward,Kiharu Constituency ,Muranga County is a beacon of hope for the community in the area as it promises sustainable growth and prosperity as envisioned in TARDA’s mandate through innovative water resource management .The Project aims to promote food security by placing 500 acres of land in the area under irrigation thereby allowing an all year-round production.
The Project, which was launched by Kiharu MP,Hon.Dindi Nyoro,has had tremendous economic benefits as it has provided 2,000 direct jobs during the construction phase and is expected to provide 5,000 indirect jobs upon completion thereby significantly boosting the local economy.
TARDA is proud to contribute to the Country’s goal of placing 1.2million acres under irrigation by 2030 .Through Projects like this one, we are not only securing food for today but also building a future where Kenya no longer relies on food imports.
