Kibwezi Irrigation Project
Kibwezi irrigation project was started in 1984 and it comprises of 170Ha of land, of which 51Ha has been developed for horticulture production for both local and export market .The project produces grapes, citrus, bananas, tomatoes, brinjals, babycorn, karalla, mangoes and Hay.
Its main objective is to fill the food deficient gap and to disseminate modern agricultural technologies to the community. Further, it seeks to improve food security in the country through sustainable utilization of land and water resources as well as innovative irrigation and farming techniques, and improve households income. The farm promotes transfer of vital technology on sustainable irrigation and farming methods to the local farmers in Kibwezi region.
